Subject: Request for Investigative Coverage of Pashtun Civilians and the Humanitarian Situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan
Dear Al Jazeera News Desk,
I am writing as a resident of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, to request greater international journalistic attention to the experiences of Pashtun civilians.
For many years, communities across Peshawar, Swat, Bajaur, Lower Dir, Mardan, Kohat and other districts have faced insecurity, deadly attacks, displacement and the consequences of military operations. Families have lost loved ones, children have grown up amid uncertainty, and many residents feel that their suffering receives insufficient international attention.
We ask Al Jazeera to investigate these concerns independently and report on the human cost of violence in the region. Important questions include the number of civilian casualties, the impact of military operations on local communities, the treatment of displaced families, accountability for alleged abuses, and the distribution of benefits from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's natural resources.
We also ask that Pashtun people not be portrayed collectively as terrorists because of the actions of armed groups. Ordinary civilians deserve dignity, safety, justice and the right to have their experiences heard.
We are not asking journalists to accept any political party's claims without verification. We are asking for independent reporting, credible evidence, local voices and fair scrutiny of all relevant authorities and armed actors.
The suffering of Pashtun civilians deserves serious attention alongside other humanitarian crises around the world.
Please consider investigating this issue and providing affected communities with an opportunity to share their experiences.
Sincerely,
A concerned resident of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PakistanDear Al Jazeera Team,
I humbly request Al Jazeera to please make a video or documentary about the situation of the Pashtun people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
Our people have suffered from violence, insecurity, displacement, and many other difficulties for years. We want the world to hear the voices of ordinary Pashtun civilians and understand the challenges they face.
