@shalayneburns: Houston, I NEED Y’ALL! 😭🌀 We moved here from Amarillo and I’ve never experienced a hurricane in my LIFE. Somebody please tell me what we’re supposed to buy, how we prepare, and when we’re supposed to leave. 😂 I’m taking notes in these comments! #EpiphaniesWithShalayne #HoustonTexas #NewToHouston #HoustonTransplant #HurricanePreparedness
And we have tornados and hail and floods and very large mosquitos and maybe a serial killer…

It’s not even the hurricanes it’s the random rainy day that turns into a problem unexpectedly

if you can afford it a backup generator Hardwired to your house is worth every penny. honestly if you like food, culture, and always having something to go do it's so worth it to be here. Welcome!

You throw a hurricane party girl!! Bbq on the charcoal grill cuz you’ll need the propane for other things. Sure you could get a generator or some BIG rechargeable battery banks. But all you really need is enough snacks to get you through and enough ice to keep the drinks cold. Welcome to HTown. You’ll be just fine

I’ve lived here since 2020 and only experienced Beryl. Thankfully our area was okay, but we had water, batteries, battery powered fans, and a generator! I also packed bags for my baby so if we had to leave we could do so quickly!

Hurricane Season is June - November 1 so we are almost done. Have to worry about flooding and tornadoes. The other issue is lack of power for weeks possibly. Have on hand , flashlights, batteries, battery operated fans, portable cell phone chargers. When you know one might be coming, get water, food you don’t need to cook.

It depends where you live and if you have hurricane force windows, to be honest... it's basically just a tornado like a small baby tornado or like an f1-2 continuously for like 6 hours.. the bad part is the flooding.. so we always make sure that we have water all the time enough for a week and we have a generator that is a natural gas generator so it can run off the gas of the house versus gasoline or diesel. and it's enough to run our fridge and the air conditioning and the Wi-Fi and we are good.
