@cbs6_rva: After years of doing "nothing," the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) has finalized a plan to actually use its powers to hold nursing homes accountable for serious care and safety failures. VDH has always had the authority to shut down nursing facilities, pause their admissions, or petition the court to appoint new management of them. However, the agency has historically not used those powers, even as in recent years, complaints from families and residents have significantly increased, and as inspectors themselves documented an overall observation of worsening care in facilities. You can read the new accountability framework at the link in our bio.
His last statement confused ne. They approved the new rules but most were out of scope.??? What does that mean.

There need to be ratio laws. No nurse needs to be in charge of 30+ patients, or CNA’s in charge of 10+ it’s physically impossible

Ah you see, there aren’t and haven’t been. There needs to be so many more safe ratios and better EVS services to help support these nurses (not saying there aren’t shitty nurses but they should also have penalties when shit happens and they’re found at fault as well)
