@oliver.henry.w: For England, England’s biggest football rivalries fans are rarely allowed to even see each other on the day of the game. We call these “Derby” matches, and they are some of the biggest days on the calendar for Football football fans. This was a game between Portsmouth and Southampton. Portsmouth fans had to get to their home stadium five hours before kickoff so they could get their IDs checked and their pocket searched. You were only allowed to get your ticket to the Portsmouth versus Southampton match when on the coach to make sure that you’ve passed through all the police and security checkpoints. Once on the coach, you were escorted by the police to the away ground which was Southampton‘s ground and taken by the police from the coach into the ground itself. After the game fans are kept in the stadium until most of the home fans are left and then taken by the police back to the coaches and police escorted the way home. Do you think this is over the top?
