Funfact: Black Zetsu backstabbing Madara is a big homage to the birth of ninja in fiction. In 1600s, in old Kabuki theatrical plays, a director used a stagehand to backstab the MC of his story at the 11th hour. This stagehand wore black, was sometimes pretending to be part of characters' jutsu (he moved the probs) and had 0 relevance to the story before the reveal/twist.

a main point in naruto is that everyone is that everyone in the naruto worlds are treated as tools to a higher power highlighted in the firat zabuza arc in og naruto. The reason kishimoto has madara die like that was due to show how too much pride can be the end of you as we were shown madara used everyone as tools and thought he werent due to his ego and it blinded him so much he thought zetsu was his own tool which he was truly the tool to kaguyas plan. additionally this whole thing was foreshadowed throught madara and hashiramas flashback with madaras weakness being people at his back/backstabbing him and once he absorbed the 10 tailed and claimed himself as the God of shinobi his confidence also blinded that weak point as he thought he was inevitable while in the end he died by gettinf backstabbed. kishimotos writing is peak of you truly understand whats going on

Kishimoto admits that he feels he wrote himself into a corner with Madara. In his mind it wouldn’t make sense that Naruto and Sasuke could beat him hence his last magic trick with Kaguya. But I think there was potential for something set up with Taijutsu/Kenjutsu with Naruto and Sasuke given what we saw is most effective against him with Guy. Frog kumite could’ve even been useful and Sasuke could finally show off his kenjutsu

From the beginning of Naruto it's been stated that Shinobi are meant to be tools and be used. People loved Madara too much they forget Madara is also a Shinobi who also falls under the same system. Now there must be someone outside the system who isn't a shinobi controlling it. Didn't you find it odd that the akatsuki members are rogue ninjas with headbands except Black zetsu? Kishimoto may not have executed the ending the way you wanted but in general it makes perfect sense the way it ended.

Many people do agree with you. Personally, I like the Kaguya twist because it makes Madara's end more thematically relevant to the themes of shinobi as tools. It made me laugh given that Madara thought he was above all that. But I do get why it irks some people.

It did get a little too cosmic for my liking, but was still good. Echoing other comments that say don't watch boruto. There's a movie thats good and a short post Naruto pre-boruto season that's good

Completely fair completely valid and typical reaction to this whole ploy actually. It all makes more sense in retrospect having time to sit with and watch the further continuation of the plot but when watching as it was happening it was sort of a disappointment for Madara to fall to a backstab

Very controversial plot point. In retrospect you can SAY it was foreshadowed but not at all. I suppose if we saw during the whole show different mentions of her and the sage of six paths a lot more with the whole god and then her son makes ninshu idk they just could’ve upheld its final direction a lot better and I can’t lie without the story having mentioned kaguya even once kishimoto shouldn’t have considered killing off madara like that
