My gargoyle would do that when he refused to eat bugs. I tried putting pangea on the roaches for him to associate them with food. Just licked them clean and went on his way.

my lepoard gecko wont eat crickets if they have calcium on them. he will bite them, bring them to his water dish and dunk them in it....but he will also lick calcium out of a bowl 🤦

Mine hates the calcium powder so I just mix it in with their CGD honestly. It's like hiding vegetables in food for kids

Dead bugs don’t have near as much nutrition as live btw, you should aim to always feed live and a variety of insects. Reptifiles has a good list of nutrition facts of all different insects

I won't feed my crestie crickets because I am afraid of them getting lose in his terrarium and biting him at night. He somehow both caught and missed a roach the other day and dropped in into the dirt. I had to go catch it because his aim sucks if it isn't in a bowl. 😭 But he gets so incredibly excited. I just tell him he is a great hunter anyways. 🥰

Would they lick some off your finger if they don’t like it from a bowl? Low calcium can be super dangerous.
