My husband does fragrance content and all I can think of when he starts telling me about these new niche fragrances is they’re just trying to hard. Like why do you need to smell like 12 ghost at a disco rave in the middle of the ocean while orange blossom blows in from 12 miles away with the breeze

My controversial take is that fragrances smell a little different on everyone bc we all have different skin. Diff levels of bacteria, sweat composition, oil, etc.

like i promise you the average person doesn’t smell like Baccarat Rouge because 1/the average person doesn’t care ab perfume like that and 2/the average person can’t afford it or they would never spend that much on a fragrance

I'll say it, I've never found a single person in the wild wearing baccarat rouge, bianco latte, ysl libre, or literally any "npc" fragrance. 99% of people are not spending hundreds of dollars on SMELLS

I live in Manhattan and work in white collar corporate America. When I say that ALMOST NO ONE outside of tourists in, like, Soho, are wearing perfume. Maybe in a trendy dinner spot on Friday night in the West Village, you might get a whiff of a Cloud, BR540, or Santal 33. Other than that … no one is wearing fragrance in everyday life. Except me 😂😂😂
