This is our first year hosting a scholarship exchange student—Aziza from Kazakhstan—and what an unforgettable experience it’s been! I want to take a moment to shine a light on just how special she is. Did you know that earning an exchange scholarship is extremely competitive? Only 2% of applicants around the world receive this opportunity—that’s a lower acceptance rate than Harvard. And Aziza didn’t just come to the U.S.—she showed up with heart, purpose, and passion. In her time here, Aziza has completed over 100 hours of community service. She’s served the elderly, volunteered at community events, supported teachers, timed swim meets, and rang the bell during Christmastime. She’s given presentations about Kazakhstan to homeschool groups and school classes alike, always eager to share her country’s story. She’s even met with state legislators—sitting on the floor as bills were voted on—and engaged with local leaders to learn how our community works. She’s listened to the stories of Americans from many cultures, building bridges with warmth and curiosity. Throughout it all, Aziza has been a proud ambassador for Kazakhstan. She’s brought her heritage to life through traditional clothing, jewelry, music, dancing, food, and of course—Kazakh chocolate! I’m convinced she carries a magic bag—she’s always ready to pull out a sweet or a small gift to share with someone new. She has touched so many lives here, and we are beyond lucky to be part of her journey. ##exchangestudentlife##hostfamily##exchangestudent##exchangefamily ##hostmom##utahexchangestudent##exchangeyear##hostanexchangestudent##hostfamilyusa##flexprogram##asseinternational##flexscholarship##studentexchangescholarship
