@whatsamortgage_: 🏡 Your HELOC could be putting more money back in your pocket this tax season! 💰 Most homeowners know they can borrow against their home equity, but many don’t realize that how they use that money could create valuable tax deductions! Here are 3 potential HELOC tax strategies you should know: ✅ 1. Home Improvements: If you use your HELOC to substantially improve the home securing the loan, the interest may be tax-deductible, subject to IRS rules. ✅ 2. Investment Properties: Using your HELOC to purchase or improve a rental property? The interest may qualify as a rental expense, subject to applicable limitations. ✅ 3. Business Expenses: Self-employed? Using HELOC funds for legitimate business purposes may allow you to deduct qualifying interest as a business expense. 📁 HERE’S MY OLD-SCHOOL TAX HACK: Create a dedicated email folder for each property and label it with the property name + HELOC. Save your receipts, invoices, bank transfers, and interest statements, including Form 1098 if provided. When tax season comes, everything is organized for your CPA to determine which deductions you qualify for! ⚠️ Remember: Not all HELOC interest is tax-deductible. Personal mortgage interest generally requires itemizing, while rental and business interest follow different rules. Borrowing money alone doesn’t create a deduction. Your tax professional can’t maximize your eligible deductions without the proper documentation! 💬 SAVE this video before tax season and SHARE it with a homeowner who has a HELOC! You're wrong. You cannot just make any home improvements to your home and get a "deduction". Nor can you just take out a HELOC to start a business and and "deduct" it without evaluating what type of business it is

If you use your equity to buy a condo say, does that do anything to the first loan interest rate cause I have a good rate, don’t want to mess with that?
