@greentigreeco: At Lehigh Gap, the Lehigh River cuts through Blue Mountain, the Kittatinny Ridge of eastern Pennsylvania. Beginning in 1898, zinc smelting in nearby Palmerton stripped roughly 3,000 acres of mountainside bare, and the slopes shed metal-laden soil into the river. It became a Superfund site in 1983. Mid-October, the slope above the gap is covered in native grasses gone copper and gold. Starting with 56 one-acre test plots in 2003, the Lehigh Gap Nature Center seeded the barren ground with native prairie grasses that hold the soil and keep the metals in place. You can see the regrowth from the river. Protect Lehigh Gap and the mountain keeps its cover. Regrowth you can see from the river is its own evidence, and a credit should come with evidence you can check. Safe carbon credits on GreenTigre mean a named Biochar Now origin, verified removal, eligible AgriCap insurance, and Insured Carbon Registry retirement. Biochar Now produces the biochar and does the sequestering. Corporate teams request a retirement quote for that origin. Like, repost, and share if this slope speaks to you.
