@lizzierebuilds: And incase anyone is curious- my kids were inside working on their chore chart while I was working on the outside. Team work makes the dream work and I hope I am helping my kids understand the value in working together. #cleaningmotivation #cleaningtiktok #satisfyingcleans #CleanTok #porchreset
That’s so true. I’ve been trying to protect their childhood and not thinking how I’m not helping them

I love that you are teaching/involving your kids along the way. They will appreciate it so much when they are grown. They will leave the nest with skills.

I paid my cleaning lady extra for spending half the day with my son and teaching him cleaning basics….he was exhausted afterwards 😂

I was always made to do chores and laundry, I thought all houses were like that until I was a senior in high school and a good friend asked me to come over and show her how to use the washing machine because she needed something for tomorrow and her parents were out of town.

Making my kids do home things during the day was one of the best things I did for them! They are 20 & 21, moved out, responsible and have jobs to support themselves. I always helped them accomplish those tasks when needed, and they continue to call and ask for help with much bigger things now. Great job!

I painted the concrete on our front porch last week. It looks so much better! It was an expensive way to spruce up the front of our house.

I’ve never done mulch at our house so I’m unfamiliar with all the details. Why do you put down cardboard and put the mulch on top of that?

You want your children to grow up to be responsible adults and mates for whoever their life partner may be. They need chores to help be a part of their family.

My kids helped me cook. Now, they're adults and have far surpassed me in their cooking ability. They cook our Thanksgiving dinner!

It might take extra effory and time to involve kids, but it's really important. It's one of a parent's responsibilities in raising kids.

Absolutely! My husband was catered to and he no idea what it takes. I also catered to him for the first 13 years of our marriage. I came to a point where I couldn’t do it anymore. He’s now learning.
I raised my kids by always having them involved, at age appropriate levels. I wanted both my son and daughter to be able to do laundry for instance so at about 3 yrs old they got to pull items out of the dryer and put it in the basket, a year or so later they got to throw the dirty clothes in ( we also worked on colour's during, like put all the red items in...and they also learned what colour's went in a load together without realizing it ). Another BIG one was both helping cook. I made sure they could cook a bunch of meals. Today is Thanksgiving in Canada and we had an amazing dinner with my son cooking the majority of it ( they're adults now). They're both now better cooks than me. It really sets them up to be better adults. TEACH THEM ABOUT MONEY, budgets etc. too.
