Odd… The Metallica that I grew up with from the 80s sang about war, government corruption, manipulation, censorship, injustice, and the many ways powerful institutions control everyday people. While not being traditionally a left or right political band, I remember their music being more broadly anti-authoritarian, skeptical of institutions, and concerned with abuses of power. Seems pretty political to me!
