Don't fly to Oaxaca directly. Fly in to CDMX first and get a ticket from CDMX to Oaxaca later in the day. It'll be so much cheaper. But you can't do it last minute. Oh, and all the hotels have been booked in Oaxaca since September (at least for the 31st through the 1st), luckily with a friend who is going to let us stay with her.
