I think because they don’t know. In Latin culture is okay to point out your weakness. So people is aware of it and maybe he can do something about it. This is a cultural thing. Good or bad is another discussion. 👍

El término 'no sabo' no siempre es un ataque ni viene de la mala intención. La mayoría de las veces es simplemente una etiqueta descriptiva o un chiste interno sobre la experiencia bicultural de crecer en EE. UU. (incluso los mismos jóvenes lo usan para reírse de sus propios errores al hablar). Es verdad que hay personas que lo usan de forma despectiva para juzgar, pero en el día a día es más un fenómeno cultural y humorístico que una falta de respeto.

As a native, my experience is that those who criticize people that don’t speak Spanish properly, they have poor Spanish. “No savo” in ancient Spanish; it used to be appropriate to say it that way. It’s improper in modern Spanish. Criticizing it denotes ignorance.
