I'm applying to PhD programs in immunology and microbiology. I've been tempted to research MCAS, and this video pushed me more towards doing it. 😊

I would say hormones play a central role in MCAS. HRT might be the ticket.

As someone with IC and IBS and a chronic intractable headache I can't help but feel like inflammation is the link between all of these things. I hope something is figured out in my lifetime.

Speaking of histamines…can you tell me why I have a histamine response from things like jets in a hot tub? I get so red and itchy anywhere there is a jet. It also happens when I cut grass with the push mower. The vibration from the mower makes my hands extremely itchy!

I think MCAS is rampant because of the things we are exposed to in the environment.

My immunologist wouldn’t even seriously consider MCAS 😩 She just said it’s very rare so she doubts it

I saw a video earlier this evening by an immunologist who said if it looks and sounds like MCAS but testing doesn't support a MCAS diagnosis....providers need to be aware that they can code it as MCAD and continue to treat like MCAS.

If the patient has diagnosed hEDS, I think there should be a presumption that the patient more likely than not has MCAS.

developed mcas post COVID with idiopathic anaphylaxis and flushing, urticaria, tachycardia and air hunger. when I'm having a reaction I urinate like crazy. maybe it's the body's way of trying to lower the excess histamine. I'm stable now on multiple H1H2, ketotifen, ldn, amlexanox, and quercetin, vit c and luteolin.

I saw a leading doc at the Cleveland Clinic who has studied IC for years and his first recommendation that ends up helping the majority of his patients is a daily probiotic. He gives some recommendations for probiotics, and I've been taking it for a year and my IC symptoms have improved drastically.

The bladder wall has mast cells though, and typically the irritating compounds are activating the mast cells. Like caffeine and capsaicin, they result in histamines being released in the bladder in people with IC/PBS. Newer studies are finding various urine markers like methylhistamine and TNF-a as reliable markers to differentiate between OAB and IC. Hopefully IC will be much easier to diagnose soon

I’ve been dealing with rebounding mcas symptoms as I wean off of my glp1. I think there are so many things linked to mast cells that aren’t necessarily mcas

I've asked about mcas the last few years and my doctor keeps acting like I'm just a hypochondriac, and refuses to investigate
