NURSE KOSI 🩺🤱🩺🩺 :
1. Hormonal changes
Women naturally produce small amounts of androgens, hormones that are also present in men. When androgen levels are elevated, or hair follicles are particularly sensitive to these hormones, thicker, darker facial hair may develop.
2. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
PCOS is a common hormonal condition that can cause excessive facial hair. Other signs may include:
Irregular or missed periods.
Persistent acne.
Thinning hair on the scalp.
Difficulty getting pregnant in some women.
Having facial hair alone does not mean you have PCOS.
3. Family history and genetics
Some women naturally grow more facial hair because of their family background and inherited characteristics. This can happen even when their hormone levels are normal
.4. Certain medications
Some medicines can contribute to unwanted hair growth. If facial hair starts after beginning a medication, speak with a healthcare professional rather than stopping the medicine yourself.
5. Changes in hormone levels with age
Hormonal changes around perimenopause and menopause can make facial hairs more noticeable, particularly on the chin and upper lip.
6. Less common medical conditions
Problems involving the adrenal glands or ovaries can sometimes cause excessive androgen production. These are less common but may need investigation.
