@mo_tats: Today is indigenous peoples day. As not only a Mexican but as an artist and a member of the Tohono O’odham nation I feel it is my duty to bring awareness to what is happening in lochiel, AZ, on SOVEREIGN tribal land. Due to the disgusting government that we have, they have brought destruction and death to sacred sites and living ancestors. As of today this includes thousands saguaros, the grandmother tree and her sisters (cottonwood trees), the paths animals (jaguars, coyotes, etc.) and insects use to survive and migrate, and bulldozing a 1000 year old art piece (las playas intaglio) on the way. All while harming and arresting the land defenders that are out there trying to stop this. This is all destruction of land that is not theirs, for an unneeded border wall and 2nd border wall. This wall goes straight through our land as our land continues into Mexico, separating the O’odham family. Trees, animals, saguaros, and the land are family and ancestors, to bring death to them is atrocious. I created this art piece because I wanted it to represent the devastation that has been brought upon our family, as I feel it has not been covered in mainstream media the way it should be. ALL FELLOW ARTISTS: In times of governments not caring about us and in the world of AI, if there is something you care about I hope this encourages you to CREATE!! There is no greater weapon we as artists have. Please continue to become aware of what is happening around you! Care about each other, care about living things, care about the earth, not just yourselves. ***NO AI***
