@anyi.manchester.u: 🚨 Thierry Henry on whether Lionel Messi could have succeeded in the Premier League: “Wayne, I also got asked the question recently. ‘Thierry, do you think Leo could have survived in England?’ I said, ‘Survived?’ ‘Yes. The Premier League. The defenders don’t give you space.’ I told him, ‘You know, I played in that league for 8 years. I remember it quite well.’ And then I played with Lionel Messi. So I think I am in a reasonable position to answer. When I arrived at Barcelona, I was used to English football. You had to be quick, strong, ready for contact. At Arsenal, if you took too long to make a decision, somebody was already on your back. Then I trained with Leo. One day he received the ball with two players close to him. I was waiting for him to pass it back. It was the sensible thing to do. He didn’t. One little touch, a change of direction, and he was through them. I said, ‘Leo, how did you know there was room?’ He looked at me and said, ‘There was room.’ That was his explanation. Very useful. But that’s what people miss when they talk about space. They think space is something a defender gives you. With certain players, space is something they create. Wayne, you mentioned Cherki’s goal against Liverpool. The movement against Frimpong, the finish, beautiful. That’s the kind of football you want to see. Everybody celebrated it, and rightly so. Now imagine I said, ‘Cherki could never do that in the Premier League. The defenders are too quick. They don’t give you time.’ You’d tell me to watch the match again. So why does the argument suddenly make sense when we’re talking about Messi? And don’t tell me Leo only did it because Barcelona were built around him. Of course we played to his strengths. You’d have to be a very strange coach to have Messi in your team and tell him not to touch the ball. At Arsenal we played to the strengths of our best players too. Every great team does that. Then he left Barcelona. People said, ‘Let’s see him somewhere else.’ He went to Paris. It wasn’t always easy, but he still contributed. Then he led Argentina to a World Cup. And after all that, people are still saying, ‘Yes, but could he do it on a rainy afternoon in England?’ My friend, he was doing it to English clubs in the Champions League. Those defenders didn’t become different people when they boarded a plane to Spain. I know the Premier League is difficult. I respect it enormously. But difficulty is not a magical force that makes a player’s first touch disappear. A reporter once asked me what I would have told Leo if he’d joined Arsenal during my time there. I said, ‘First, I’d tell him welcome.’ ‘And then?’ ‘I’d tell everybody else to give him the ball.’ Because that is the part that makes me sad about this debate. English supporters missed the chance to watch one of the greatest players ever do this every weekend in their own stadiums. That should be the regret. Instead, some people speak as if Messi was lucky to avoid England. No. I think England was unlucky to miss Messi.” [ This is the source @ChinoUTD ]#messi #PremierLeague #argentina #creatorsearchinsights #capcut

La Liga is stronger than EPL. Example...La Liga have 20 Champion leagues n EPL have only 15 Champion Leagues n in other cup La Liga in far ahead of EPL n in World Cup Spain or LA Liga have 2 World Cup n England or EPL with only 1 n in Europe Cup Soain have 4 and England non. So EPL is too small for messi to play. La Liga have around more than 20 Ballon door n EPL less than 10.

Wayne :
to say he thrived at PSG is a total lie he didn't see anything there it was Neymar and Mbappe who did damage there. furthermore the Spanish league consist of two maybe now and then 3 good teams whereas the premiere league has by far more competitive teams so it's much harder each and every week

even falcao used to beat english clubs but what happened when he came to premier league, Dimaria, Ozil was brilliant coz the system he played in at arsenal was similar to the one in spain...so you cant predict what can happen unless you test it

The question should be could Messi have gone into a Chelsea team under Mourinho who play a pragmatic and structured style of play or go to a Manchester United team that played squash bucking football with flying wingers under Sir Alex and thrived in those systems or could he only have thrived if he had Barcelona was a premier league team?. I don’t think he would have been able to get the numbers he got at Barca, and PSG was proof of that. When the system and style of play didn’t suite him, he struggled to have the impact and end product we saw at Barca…this doesn’t diminish Messi, he is great and goated, but I will always say that he is a system player, he needs an environment that suits him to thrive. For me if there was never a Pep Guardiola taking over Barca, there would have never been a Messi at the level we saw and the numbers he achieved. Pep created a system for Messi and to suite and get the best out of him. Messi never had to run back to his own box and defend. Now ask the question, would he have survived in a Premier League team.?

English premier league is highly overrated when it comes to if messi can survived it. Aguero join English premier league from Atletico Madrid and he dominated for 8years or more but he was no where to be found in Argentina national team, so if Aguero could do that in EPL I believe Messi will shattered every corner of the league

Even Hazard did it at premier league, Messi will smoke premier defenders alive, Messi love people who doesn't calculate marking, in premier league they just jump to ball, they don't calculate marking

The guy had an advantage of performance enhancement and growth hormones injections so it would be easy for him because he has unnaturally stronger bones, recovers and heals faster. His endurance, stamina and strength are way too enhanced as compared to players who are playing with their natural abilities. My answer is yes he would have done extremely well and to the best of his ability.
