@salty.reads: I absolutely gaslit myself into thinking Tamlin wasn’t that bad until this reread 🥀 #acotar #acourtofthornsandroses #tamlin #BookTok #romantasy
I don’t want a Tamlin redemption arc I want an ERIS REDEMPTION ARC 😭

The audacity and the switch up on BookTok defending Tamlin and calling Rhysand the abuser is crazy right now

You know what I find so hilarious about these tags is that you all don’t hold those same standards for any of the other characters it’s only for him

Also as a DV survivor. Doing a reread of acotar. He is FULL of red flags. Right from the start

Rereading the series and he’s actually way worse than the first time. He begged amarantha to spare Lucien’s life utm. He never did with feyre.

Doing my first ever ACOTAR re-read and knowing what I know now and seeing how he acted even from the start…. ICK. First form of real “intimacy” is him bruising her in his Calanmai trance after coming on without consent and then blames HER… also crazy possessive even then. So much I didn’t even see 😅

I need to reread this book. Sometimes it's insane how we don't see red flags

Right! Like if she was human during that fight… Tamlin is the epitome of the bad boyfriend cycle

Do I agree with everything he did absolutely not and I think those two together was terrible but yall erase so much of his trama in a way you never do for any of the other characters that have done just as bad and praise them for doing things Tamlin would also do(how Feyre left the spring court) you only want the morally grey characters if they are the main couples/friend group

and he was using her body when she was literally deteriorating… this was the worst part for me because she wasn’t even speaking or eating and he simply didn’t care

Locking her up after being imprisoned under the mountain 💔 not letting her help when she's the one who saved them all, she was the capable one not him ugh he's the worst 🥴

i think we need to put context in this cause "not that bad" doesn't equal he's good. as rhys said, tamlin loved feyre but he loved her too much and became an obsession on which he couldn't think straight. he's not that bad comparing him to someone who would do the same things purposefully and with a clear mind. he was wrong, like 100% wrong, in no way he can be excused, but that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a redemption arc or something. i did see people loving him and i don't understand that and never will, i totally get the hate and it's fine but pls don't put on the same level an obvious toxic behaviour coming from a not clear mind to a toxic action made with the intention to hurt. people are allowed to change, as much as you're allowed to not believe in it. with this i mean that whatever we feel about a character is personal and shouldn't be forced or suggested on someone else unless it's openly ignoring important bad stuff

My fear is that when I first read it I saw it as a red flag but was still holding out cause I didn’t know there was more (aka Rhys) and I thought I loved his character and that’s gut wrenching to me

NOT TO MENTION his reaction made Feyre scared to ever bring up her feelings again.

And then people argue “well he locked her up out of fear similar to Rhys”. Not even close.

Rhysand didn’t tell Feyre that she pretty much was about to died giving birth 🤷🏻♀️and basically he killed her for a bit.

Tamlin was also drowning under the pressure of trying to save his court for like 50 years. Feyre was kind of a little bitch about everything in acotar 😭 they were horrible for each other

𝐗𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐍’𝐒 𝐖𝐈𝐅𝐄 📚📖 :
I need people to understand just how abusive Tamlin really is. Throwing furniture at her IS a form of DV. Locking your partner up is also a form of abuse and let’s not forget his controlling behavior either. Fictional characters or not, his actions are inexcusable. The dude has had over 500 years to heal and change and most of the people who defend his actions, hate on Nesta. Nesta may be a lot of things but she wasn’t even close to being as bad as him and it only took her less than a year to start healing and changing her behavior. At least she knew what she said and did was wrong and she let it eat her alive mentally and emotionally. If Nesta’s trauma isn’t an excuse for her behavior, the same can also be said for tamtoe
