My man was on the same page as me for 7 years, no kids. But then his highschool friends got kids and now suddenly he wants them. Obv he is allowed to change his mind but it worries me that he wants them for the wrong reasons. I know how he is when he is forced to take care of someone he doesnt want to take care of. He is cold and moans and make you feel like everything is your fault (when it isnt). He is the opposite when he wants to, he is warm, loving, goes the extra mile every time. So what if we have a child and he realizes he never actually wanted one? That he just felt like he was missing out or something? It scares me bc I cannot just leave my child in the same way he could, I would be stuck with a child I only wanted on the condition that he is an actual co-parent. I know my limitations and doing it alone isnt an option for me so it really does scare me. Thank you for letting me rant in this safe space!

My siblings both have kids and on my birthday this year I got asked at least 5 times when I was having a kid. I was peeved that I drove an hour and a half to get questioned about my life choices on MY birthday.

I’m 49 and my Gyno Dr finally stopped asking me if I want kids and said “don’t feel less of a women because you don’t have kids”…oh believe me I am all women, and I love not having kids. I love my neices. I’m the fun auntie.

I don’t have kids. I grew up in a time when you only had kids if you were married and also in a time when “women’s lib” and getting a career was in the forefront. The years passed I got a career and never married. In my 30’s a coworker who was single was adopting a baby. Why would I bring a baby into my home only to put it in daycare everyday and be in a playpen while I was doing my daily chores. So I am 67, no kids and never married. I thank god for having my back and knowing that I have the life that is best for me. I’m the best aunt and great aunt and and have lots of love in my life.

The bar is always moving. Why aren’t you married yet? When are you going to have a child? Child arrives and then it’s “when are you going to give them a sibling”? Then it’s why are you have so many kids? Frustrating!

Had a hysterectomy a couple years ago because of a lot of issues that turned out to be endometriosis, but I really mostly just didn’t want to be able to get pregnant or ever worry about it again, so now when people are nosy about having kids and push for it I say I had a hysterectomy due to health issues so I can’t have kids & just try to make them feel bad for asking lmao

I feel this so deeply. It is wild to me the negative reactions I have received when I say my husband and I are happily married and don’t want children. To me, the people with negative responses are either unhappy with their decision to have kids, OR are on very different conscious wavelengths and close-minded. The happy, open-minded parents understand or are happy for us.

When my sister got married at 21 (rushed wedding cause of pregnancy), people ask me "aren't you ashamed that your sister got married and is having kids before you?? I was highly offended. I'm in no hurry, and am not desperate. I'm so glad I discovered the Childfree lifestyle. I never wanted kids, but grew up hearing that it was my "duty" to have them. Now I can loudly declare FTK

I work with kids, I’ve always known I want kids. That’s the only thing I’ve ever known. But as I’ve grown older, I’m in my early 30’s now, I’m watching all of my best friends raising their young kids, and they don’t have an out. While, like I said, I work with kids, and I have an out. I’m exhausted at the end of the day. Granted, the kids I work with have autism. But I love coming home to a child free home. Where I can just take care of me. Nobody needing something from me 24/7, no feeling on edge making sure tiny humans are safe. It’s crazy how things change as we grow and learn more about life and ourselves.
