@the.literacy.lab5: The ending -ed doesn’t always say /ĭd/! 🤔 Listen to these words: ✨ jumped ✨ played ✨ wanted Notice the differences: 🗣️ In "jumped," -ed says /t/. 🗣️ In "played," -ed says /d/. 🗣️ In "wanted," -ed says /ĭd/—and adds another syllable! Here’s the pattern: When a base word ends with the sound /t/ or /d/, we pronounce -ed as /ĭd/, like in "wanted" and "needed." For other words, students can listen for /t/ or /d/ and sort them by the sound they hear. Even though we hear different sounds, we still write e-d! Teaching all three sounds helps students read and spell words with -ed more accurately. 📚 #Phonics #ReadingTips #SpellingRules #Education #fypシ
