A big dinner at Ibai London🥩🔥 - Nothing but the best beef at Ibai. Dropped by for dinner and managed to get our hands on the Miguel Vergara grade 5 that Richard portioned up for us as we worked our way through the staters. Favourites of the night: the roasted artichoke with Le Noir de Bigorre ham, the crab and Galician Wagyu pintxo, the slowly-grilled Basque chicken and of course, the vegara, served rare. The croque is their signature and that’s always a winner too, as are the crisps. The artichoke dish was one the most flavoursome I’ve had anywhere, soft, meaty and nicely charred. The pintxo is a must too - it’s a hefty bite but this take on a surf and turf is unlike any other. An outstanding snack with the rare aged beef draped over the seasoned crab meat. For the beef, this rare cut was available that they don’t usually serve at the restaurant - a grade above the house beef. Higher marbling with very even fat distribution - it cooked beautifully and had an incredibly robust, beefy flavour profile. Served more rare than I would usually order but man it was insane - proper crust. Aggressive grilling at Ibai, with a final baste of beef butter right at the end. If you’re dining here, go with a group so you can order properly. So much to try and lots of outstanding beef to choose from. Gateau basque for dessert is the only move.
