That kind of rhetoric that she’s talking about just makes me feel like I’m not doing enough and not doing anything right. I’ve had acne (everyday chronic acne, plus hormonal acne and I get stress acne) since I was in grade 4. I’m 37 now, still have it. I have tried every drugstore and online brand treatment system; salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, AHAs and BHAs, tea tree oil products, willow bark products, blue tansy, retinoids, sulfur; … I’ve completely changed my diet gradually over the course of one year by removing all common food allergens and sensitivities (even tho I only have a sensitivity to lactose) and was vegan, no junk food at all, no sugar-added, nut free, soy free, for an entire year just to see what that would do for my skin. … The only very very mild improvement was removing dairy completely, but it wasn’t enough of a change to cut it out for good, so I still have small amounts of dairy regularly but that’s mainly cheese and it’s such small amounts - I stick with lactose free Greek yogurt and nut and oat milks, but that’s it. I was the healthiest I’ve ever been at one point and that still didn’t clear up my skin. … I take probiotics but that’s mainly to help with my gut/digestive issues bc of extreme stress and burnout I got from a previous job I had for extended period of time really messed up my gut. And it also made my acne worse due to stress. … But for OP to say “it’s all in what you eat” only brings shame and guilt and blame onto me when I’ve tried almost everything. I’ve heard ppl mention tretinoin and azelaic acid together can help, same with accutane, but I don’t have a job nor money atm to try those. Acne has affected my self-esteem so much and I’m so desperate but nothing I’ve tried has ever worked. Or it does just for a little bit, and then my skin goes back to normal. It’s so depressing and ofc I can’t afford to go see a dermatologist either 😞😞😞
