If the magnet snaps onto it, it is just steel with copper colored paint or plating on top. 🗝️ 2. The Scratch Test Take a key or pin and make a tiny scratch on the inside rim or bottom edge. Solid copper is reddish brown all the way through. If you see silver, bright yellow brass, or gray underneath, it is fake. 🧊 3. The Thermal Test Drop the straw into a glass of ice water. Copper conducts cold faster than almost any other metal. A real copper straw will feel freezing cold to the touch in about 2 seconds flat! 🥗 4. The Vinegar and Salt Test Dab a drop of white vinegar mixed with a little salt on a tiny hidden spot and let it sit for 15 minutes.
