@rajatsuri29: Are we in a post-AGI world? Appears so. Lots of possible outcomes to this #siliconvalley #ai #agi #singularity

My former company implemented it for billing last year after laying off 400 people. It makes so many mistakes, it's killing productivity. I find it hilarious

We aren't "post" anything. That's marketing mumbo-jumbo. As you say, the field is evolving on some hyperbolic trajectory we can barely measure toward some kind of singularity we don't yet even understand. Hence the two polar opposite most popular reactions -- "it will save us all" vs. "it will destroy us all". History suggests the actual results will be somewhere on a spectrum between the two ("your results may vary"), but that's not a very good sales pitch, is it?

The conversation about artificial general intelligence has become dangerously centered on machines. How intelligent will they become? How quickly will they improve themselves? How much human work will they take over? We’re asking too little about the people. We should be asking AI help us think more clearly, create more freely, understand one another better, and exercise better judgment? Will it help ordinary people become more capable and live better lives? Those questions should guide the industry, not how advanced agent loops will become. Autonomous AI agents must be outlawed … Period! They are unpredictable and are the slippery slope to AGI. We are barely getting accustomed to narrow AI. Society doesn’t need AI agents writing our emails, scheduling our appointments, or paying our bills. It is pure hubris to think that anyone can predict and control an AI agent, especially when it has internet access and can communicate with other AI agents to form swarms where the sum of the swarm’s capabilities is greater than the individual capabilities of each individual agent.

The smartest people have never actually run the world, not even close, which gives me some hope that super intelligent machines also won't be able to take over the world. And we can perhaps look to the world of chess to see what happens when humans are superseded in a mental endeavor. Chess remains quite popular, maybe moreso.

The Optimus Robot can’t replace me or my crew members yet . It’s too weak , I work in precast concrete. I’m pouring Elons staircase this week ! It could clean my apartment, do laundry and light duty tasks in the shop . Your spot on , AI translation to the physical world will take a while.

Let me provide you with a bit of insight from an architectural perspective of someone who understands the foundation and the principles on which objectified language, which is what these genetic systems are built upon. AI is already smarter than most humans because humans themselves have never truly been smart. They just digested information from a single perspective and called themselves educated it takes a system. No time to pick up that information we’ve had for many years was released at a public and framed as artificial intelligence. In fact, AGI has already been reached in the back, probably about 10 years ago. It’s just not given to the public. The public platforms are really just an introduction to something a slow, one adoption that’s it.

Not with The economic strain on a majority of citizens. You and other optimists are living with means above most average citizens and are not factoring value of life over technological advancement. At what cost does this advancement get us? You don’t know at the end of the day. And that is all the answer the people need.
