@homegrownpodcast: Five plants to start your own apothecary garden This week on Home Grown we're building a flower apothecary and these are the five we'd start with. Yarrow, valerian, echinacea, lavender and calendula. Beautiful in the garden, useful in the home, and most of them couldn't be easier to grow. Between them they cover everything from sleep and anxiety to immune support and skin healing. What would be in your top five? 🌿 Everything we share about the properties of plants is for information only and is not medical advice, always do your own research and check suitability before use. NEW EPISODE OUT NOW You can get Home Grown wherever you listen to your podcasts or follow the link in the #HerbalRemedies #GrowYourOwn #NaturalRemedies #GardenersOfInstagram #Yarrow
Just FYI with Valerian, it will show up as an opioid on tests. My ex-husband found that out the hard way.

TBh I would have switched valerian for camomile because as a tincture it dries out wounds and helps with infections + it can be used as a tea to help with flue symptoms.

My Vet told me to dry Callendula and when my Himalayan cat gets an eye infection, to boil it to make a tea, cool it and use as a compress on her eye to heal it. I haven’t tried it yet.
