@leokatiecbt: For years, I thought I just had an extremely strong conscience... turns out, a lot of it was OCD I felt guilty over things other people seemed to brush off. Tiny uncertainties could make me worry I had lied or misled someone. I'd overanalyze my intentions to make sure I wasn't secretly a bad person, hold myself to impossible moral standards, & obsess over whether one mistake could mean I'd caused irreversible harm... The tricky part is that all of this can feel like being thoughtful, responsible, or morally careful. But for me, there was a point where it stopped being about my values & became about trying to be good "enough" ...an arbitrary moving target my brain invented & could never feel fully certain about. Learning that guilt isn't always proof of wrongdoing was such an important part of understanding my OCD. I can care deeply about being a good person without investigating every thought, mistake, or uncomfortable feeling #ocd #scrupulosity #moralocd #ocdrecovery #rocd
