as an english teacher myself, this hits differently. when i resigned, one of the letters i held closest came from a student who was once too shy to even speak english, whose parents had always believed she simply couldn’t. she wrote her entire farewell letter to me in english and ended it by saying she could do it because i made her believe she could. nothing has ever made me prouder as a teacher🤍

in my case, that is my brother. he was the one who enrolled me to the english course when I was 10, he said “if you know how to speak English well, you’ll see the world bigger.” he also forced me to go the dentist, saying that I will regret it later if I didn’t come to dentist earlier. and sooo muchhh more more more life lessons that I got from him as a person who has lived longer than me. I am not really sure if he knows that, but I’m so grateful to have a brother like him and I always pray may he always win in life. dear mamas, you shaped me into who I am today 🥺🫶🏻

the memories :
aku dulunya suka sebel sama english teacher di SMA karena dia selalu nunjuk aku jadi team leader in every english projects. aku suka ngeluh kenapa harus aku karena aku ngerasa terbebani ngurusin anggota lain. pernah sampai nangis karena lagi-lagi ditunjuk jadi leader. that time aku ngerasa ga sepintar itu dalam bahasa inggris, i know students who smarter than me. sampai ada hari aku ngumpulin tugas writting, mind you at that time there’s no AI, bahkan ggle translate masih kacau banget (around 2013ish), tapi dia bilang grammar aku bagus dan kalau murid lain yang bikin ini dia ga akan percaya tapi karena ini hasil aku jadi dia ga heran. saat itu juga rasanya kayak turning point dimana aku sadar sama kemampuanku, aku jadi tahu aku punya kelebihan dan rasa percaya diri aku tumbuh, bahkan momen itu masih kerekam jelas diingatan aku; tengah hari, di bawah pohon mangga, i stand beside him, he wore batik, and the sky’s so blue and sunny that day. aku akhirnya sadar he always chose me as a leader bcs he trusts me a lot, he sees something i dont even know im capable of. and yup, i took english major

now i am an English teacher,ikut terharu dengarnya bg, dan pas liat komen,ternyata se simple "how are u" sebelum mulai pembelajaran ternyata sgt berharga ya,sometimes aku sedihh, karna udh berusaha sebaik mungkin tapi pasti ada satu dua siswa yg kurang suka, tapi aku melupakan banyak siswa yg suka, proud to be an English teacher🥹
