it's a signal of poor mental health. they need to take her to a doctor and see it, hurting animals is the first signal. not just it but it died in a painful way, and with the kid's expression she seems to don't understand that, so she need to be teached that, and small animals should NOT be handed to kids without an adult next to them, there needs to be an adult controling the situation. the parents also need to ask "why did you do this?" and try to understand the principal problem and not let her near animals alone. i never let my sister next to my fish or dog alone, I'm allways seeing what she's gonna do, as she also tried to kill our dog like, every opportunity, and she's going to a mental health hospital to see if it's all okay with her, also, it's not the animal's fault the child is like this, you can't let them hurt the animals. my fish is today 2 years old and if you're buying and animal, you gotta be responsible for them.
