If you’re exhausted because your baby won’t sleep, but you refuse to do cry it out, I want you to hear this: 1. You are not doing anything wrong. I truly believe temperament plays a huge role in how babies sleep. Some babies are naturally better sleepers while others need more support. There are a LOT of factors that influence infant sleep, including temperament, development, feeding, environment and individual sleep needs. 2. Waking during the night is biologically normal for babies. Babies aren't designed to sleep like adults. Their sleep cycles are shorter, their sleep patterns are still developing, and waking between sleep cycles is normal. And depending on their age and individual circumstances, some babies genuinely still need to wake to feed or need help getting back to sleep. 3. Cry it out is not the right choice for our family. And I don't think you have to choose it just because someone tells you it's the only way your baby will ever learn to sleep. There are different approaches to infant sleep, and families can make different choices based on their own circumstances and values. And if you don't feel comfortable leaving your baby to cry, you don't have to. 4. That anxiety you feel when your baby cries? There's a reason for it. Your brain and body are designed to respond to your baby's cries. Infant crying is an incredibly powerful signal that can trigger a strong physiological and emotional response in parents. Your nervous system is doing exactly what it's designed to do. 5. You’ll never regret not doing cry it out. But there will come a point when your child sleeps better. And when that day comes, you won’t look back and regret the nights you spent holding them. You won't regret bringing them into your bed when you needed to. You won't regret feeding them, comforting them, or helping them back to sleep. Supporting your baby through sleep isn't spoiling them. You're allowed to choose the approach that feels right for your baby, your family and you. 🤍 #millennialmom #twounderthree #babysleep #momwisdom #postpartumjourney
