If more people were able to get treatment sooner we wouldn't be in this position

add in that the number of unemployed is about 4 times higher than the actual jobs out there. So companies will take able bodied employees over disabled employees that need reasonable adjustments and extra support 😕

Something just struck me whilst listening to this... Those shouting the odds over disability payments might want to rethink. First of all, disability doesn't just only happen to a specific class. It doesn't discriminate. My main point is that once AI takes over the workplace, jobs will become a thing of the past. We may all recieve a basic income. Will those claiming that they're paying for the benefits suddenly shut up? We will all be in the same boat, not being able to work even when we want to

I was dismissed from work because of long term ill health, I'd love to go to work, I've worked almost 45 years..I got contribution employment support allowance but that stopped in September, I'm currently getting nothing and have been told by the department of works and pensions to live off my husbands wage..it's a bloody joke, why bother working all those years, if the system isn't there when we need it..been made to feel like a scrounger..

I wish more people acknowledged the savings limit for UC. It hasn't increased in the last 30 years. Disabled people who cannot work for their entire lives aren't allowed to have a safety net, and if we try then we lose financial support. Then if we're too disabled to report changes in savings every month, we may be in debt to the DWP.

I claimed LCWRA element of UC from April 2026, but because I'm in a couple (basic rate £666 per month for a couple) and my partner is registered as disabled, I get ZERO for having cancer and being unable to work at the moment.
So, my half of UC (after rent) is £333 per month.

Im on LCWRA told I can't work, I'd love to work, I hate feeling useless. But they act like we one day wanted to be sick or in so much pain, like it's a holiday being ill when it's not. There is also a gender bias still in medicine, my husband gets better treatment than I do. People need to understand anyone alive can become disabled at any second.

It’s been a human rights issue for many of us for years. We have been mistreated, wrongly interpreted and lost even our kids.

Doctors are supposed to support as are social workers. I didn't sign for additional abuse & extended deprivation of eligible benefit / suitable functional housing.

My youngest was 10 months old when I got his Certificate of Visual Impairment that states he is ineligible to drive for his entire life. That limits his options for work he is able to do and how far he can travel to work. I am on week 16 waiting for his DLA so that I can unlock the doors to opportunities I cannot access for him right now. I am so scared of what his future holds for him. He is 19 months old and still has his whole life ahead of him, where he will need targeted support for him to be a functional member of society. A lot of the disability benefits are a key to open more doors for support and thats what a lot of people are missing. They see the financial side of it in the now, not how it will benefit society further down the line. Its a pure lack of knowledge of the whole picture

You can judge a society by how it treats the elderly and disabled. I’m afraid this country falls far short in this regard
