Prayers have been pouring in from all parts of the world, especially Catholics, for Pope Leo XIV, who is undergoing a surgery to remove a lung nodule. The Pope revealed of his upcoming surgery on Sunday, 11 October. Right after the announcement, people across the world have been sending promises of their prayers for the Pope’s good health and speedy recovery. Among the dignitaries of the Church who promised prayers are Archbishop Paul Coakley, President of the US Bishops’ Conference, who posted on his X handle: “The bishops of the United States join with the faithful and all people of good will in praying for his good health. May the hand of Pope Leo's surgeons be guided by the divine physician Jesus Christ.” Bishop Michael Olson, Bishop of Fort Worth, Texas, also invited the faithful to pray for the Pope. He also entrusted his medical team to God’s hands. Archbishop Charles Scicluna, Archbishop of Malta and Adjunct Secretary of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, wrote on X: “The Church in Malta is united in prayer for the Holy Father.” Cardinal Daniel Sturla, Archbishop of Montevideo, urged prayers for the Pope’s speedy recovery ahead of his scheduled Apostolic Journey to Uruguay in November. “Let us pray for his swift recovery and continue preparing for his visit to our country with renewed enthusiasm,” the Cardinal said. The Catholic Bishops of Peru, another country the Pope will visit in November, praised Pope Leo’s “fortitude and humility.” “The Peruvian bishops invite all Catholics and people of goodwill to unite in prayer for the health of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV,” they said in a statement. The Argentine Bishops’ Conference also urged the faithful to pray for the Pope and entrusted him to the maternal care of the Virgin Mary.” Assuring prayers for the Pope, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, President of the Italian Bishops’ Conference, said: “We are one family: Holy Father, you are not alone!” Discover God’s goodness every day- join Shalom World News! 👉 shalomworld.org/news-whatsapp #PopeLeoXIV #PrayForThePope #CatholicChurch #GlobalPrayer #shalomworldnews - @kontoh153
