@thetraumacentre: The Trauma Centre was honoured to host an educational workshop in Kalksteenfontein, a community that has been established for 65 years. Community members shared that they have limited access to programmes and initiatives addressing unemployment and other socio-economic challenges. Through the efforts of our Social Auxiliary Worker, Frances, who connected with Naeema Adams, founder of The Golden Oldies group, we were able to bring this educational workshop to the community. The participants expressed their delight and heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity. The workshop featured valuable contributions from the following speakers: 🔹 Sergeant Cornelius from Bishop Lavis SAPS spoke about social ills affecting the community, emphasising the importance of protecting children on social media and preventing their involvement in gangs and substance abuse. 🔹 September, a social worker from the Centre of Excellence, shared information about the services available to the Bishop Lavis community. 🔹 Imrah Solomon, a social work professional from MOSAIC, provided insights into court interdicts and restraining orders. 🔹 Ebrahim Davids, Kalksteenfontein’s community leader, reflected on the social challenges facing the community and shared its dreams and aspirations for the future. Our Executive Director, Marguerite Holtzhausen, led a fun dance activity. The workshop concluded with the Tree of Life activity, giving participants an opportunity to reflect, connect and share their hopes and aspirations. 💚 Help us continue making a difference.
