I was forced to stay at a facility owned and operated by The Grand due to needing to finish some antibiotics. My first night there they gave me food that was still half raw. They told me it wasn't.

this up my area. ive been in healthcare for over 30 years. ive pushed them med carts, supervision, all the the up to management. done hospital, nursing home, home care - all if it. YES they ALL are short staffed, YES care has declined-YES money is the priority AND problem HOWEVER THE PEOPLE THAT SO SHOW UP EVERY DAY ARE THERE FOR THE REASONS THAT EVERYONE WANTS FOR EVERYONE. NO SINGLE PERSON IN BETWEEN THEM WALLS ARE GOING TO "DO NOTHING" LET SOMEONE CHOKE AND DIE. there's other contributing factors that don't EVER get included or voiced with shit that comes out on media. and that dietary aide at 74 - my heart hurts for her because FROM ACTUALLY WORKING IN THIS TYPE OF ENVIRONMENT AND KNOW WHAT REALLY GOES ON- she has NO RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE RESIDENTS OTHER THAN GETTING THE TRAYS OUT. more than likely what happened (my vision on interpretation FROM AGAIN KNOWING 1ST HAND HOW THINGS HAPPEN) the resident that passed (for 90 min that no one intervened) typical behavior probably includes the resident on table with head down. and ya typical behavior like that the staff that knows her absolutely would just walk by BECAUSE ITS A NORMAL BEHAVIOR. was she visibly choking and just didn't intervene- i would ABSOLUTELY SAY NO. does the facility hold fault- YES- for putting that risk in place and opportunity by discontinuing the 1:1 - AGAIN thats a typical thing we battle CONTINUALLY- theres not enough staff to support that BUT ON THE FLIP SIDE- THE PROBLEM LIES WITHIN THE MONEY CUZ IN ALL REALITY THAT RESIDENT WAS THERE TO FILL A BED FOR MONEY - JUST LIKE MANY OF THE POPULATION IN HOMES NOW- THEY ARE NOT APPROPRIATE ADMISSIONS TO BEGIN WITH IF THE CARE WITH SPECIFIC CARE PLANS CAN NOT BE FOLLOWED- PUTS EVERYONE AT RISK. shes 74 years old- and facing prison- thats wrong. every facility has cameras- let me take a wild guess here- not working at the time??? that dietary lady CAN NOT FEED RESIDENTS - CANT EVEN PUSH A WHEELCHAIR WITH A RESIDENT IN IT. SO HIGHLY FN DOUBT SHE OR ANY SINGLE OTHER PERSON THERE ON THAT DAY JUST WALKED BY WHILE AND WATCHED SOMEONE CHOKE TO DEATH. I HATE THE FN MEDIA. new headlines on TV paint pictures that ARE NOT ACCURATE.

Oh there is no excuse, understaffed or not there should never have been food placed in front of this patient but sadly the orders were probably not shared with all staff
