@sharp_physiotherapy: That nagging ache between your shoulder blades is more common than you might think. Lots of people live with that persistent tightness or dull pain in the mid-back, the kind that no amount of stretching ever seems to fix. It's frustrating because it feels like a muscle problem, but the cause is often more complicated. The mid-back, or thoracic spine, is a busy area. Stiff joints and tight muscles here can create constant tension, but the pain can also be coming from your neck. When nerves or joints higher up become irritated, they can send pain signals down into the upper or mid-back, making it feel as though the problem is lower than it really is. Rib movement and breathing patterns can play a part too. When the ribs are restricted or your breathing becomes shallow, the muscles around your shoulder blades have to work harder to hold your posture, which only adds to the tightness. That's why stretching or massaging the same spot only gives short-term relief: it isn't tackling the real cause. By restoring movement through the spine and ribs, improving your posture, and retraining the way you breathe, that constant ache can finally start to settle. The result is a back that feels lighter, freer, and much more comfortable every day.
