In real life this happens quite a lot, however its not soul crushing if you power through and find a way to test the attraction. Them having a partner shouldn't stop you from shooting your shot, not in this day and age if you really feel they can change your life its worth taking the opporuntiy.

I see 30-50 people regularly at work but I’ve only gotten a proximity crush on one person. So it’s not only just the proximity bc there are many ppl in my regular proximity that are technically “my type” but I don’t crush on them. I was not initially attracted to my proximity crush off the bat but one day a switch flipped and I was like wait… ur kinda… attraction is so weird and unpredictable
