On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, 63-year-old Duane Davis was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison by a Nevada judge following his conviction for first-degree murder in August. Davis received consecutive sentences of 20 years to life for the murder and an additional 20 years to life for the use of a deadly weapon. The sentence means he must serve the terms one after the other rather than at the same time. During the sentencing hearing, Judge Carli Kierny addressed Davis directly, making it clear that he would be held accountable for the life that was taken. “You don’t get to take a man from his family, you don’t get to take his very life, his whole future from him, and just walk away from it. Especially when that man is Tupac Shakur,” the judge said. She also acknowledged the lasting impact of the killing, stating that the world had never forgotten Tupac or his death. Before the sentence was handed down, Tupac’s younger sister, Sekyiwa Shakur, and his brother, Maurice Shakur, delivered emotional statements to the court, urging the judge to impose the maximum punishment. Sekyiwa spoke about the devastating loss her family has endured and described her brother as someone who had plans and aspirations to make the world a better place. She also remembered him as a father figure in her life. Maurice likewise spoke about the heartbreak caused by his brother’s murder and the lasting impact on their family and Tupac’s fans. Davis showed little emotion during the sentencing hearing. His defense attorney has indicated that Davis plans to appeal his conviction. Out of everyone who was involved, Keffe D is the only one still alive and able to face consequences for the murder. Because of that, I wouldn't call this complete justice but it certainly feels good to have some answers and some accountability! I thought for sure the sentence would be light since so much time had passed so I appreciate the judge for this sentence! #tupac #tupacshakur #keffed #truecrimetok #madeyoulook
