When a 4,500-ton-class crawler crane meets a giant process tower, even the excavator suddenly looks small. This is the XCMG XGC88000 at work on a massive industrial lifting operation in China. Suspended beneath the crane is a giant tower vessel, while workers and an excavator assist at the base, carefully adjusting its orientation so the base can be aligned with the anchor bolts for final installation. Look closely at the bottom of the tower. The people almost disappear beside it, and even the excavator—normally considered a large piece of machinery—looks like a small toy. This is the scale of modern heavy industrial construction. As a manufacturer of steel structures and storage tanks, my manufacturing capabilities give me the opportunity to participate in the construction of many large petrochemical and industrial projects. That's also why I get to see some extraordinary engineering scenes—but even for me, a lifting operation on this scale is not something I see every day. This is today's video from China.
