If you don’t wanna watch your grandkids, just don’t even offer.

It isn’t because people are lazy that they can’t afford a house nowadays, it’s because a house that sold for $160,000 10 years ago is now going for over half a million dollars.

I watch my granddaughter every week and we to use a shared calendar however I would NEVER just update the calendar. Any scheduling conflicts that I have ever had I make sure to not single communicate but quadruple communicate to everyone involved multiple times. The only thing I’ve ever had to make adjustments for is doctors appointments, sickness, and my annual travel which everyone already knows about. It’s crazy for someone to make a commitment like that and then just be so whatever about it when people are depending on you.

They are both in the wrong. 3 days a week of childcare is a lot. But grandma should have said she couldn’t handle that. And let’s be honest, our grandparents never provided childcare back in the 90s.

“I don’t see why this is a big deal.” IDK, because you backed out with no notice, leaving them no time to find alternative childcare?

skeptical grandma :
Ok, first time she wigged out and I had to go get my kid for a not good reason, I would be looking for alternative care the same day.

GenX here. My son has already asked me to babysit for them 3 days a week. He just got married and they aren’t planning on having a baby yet. But, I know when the time comes, I won’t be making plans on the days or times I will have the baby.

I’d be cutting contact immediately no more access to us or the baby until she apologizes for being disrespectful and not even bothering to easily send a text or a simple 10 second phone call saying hey I can’t babysit tomorrow if she had done that they could’ve probably found somebody else to take the baby to and problem could’ve been avoided

whew. As the older generation, I really resent her attitude. We did have it better, we could earn a livable wage and housing was affordable and we weren't drowning in student loan debt. 40 bucks would buy a week's grocery. And child care was affordable.

Excuse me, but in the 80s ma’am, we went out and we didn’t have coffee, but we bought sodas and whatever was the rage at the time. Don’t blame this generation.

It’s so interesting seeing the generation that had their parent help look after their kids be the ones to go “nope I’m not babysitting”. Like I’m fortunate my mum is an outlier and will help me where she can between her own work, but my ex MIL on the other hand was the one to make snarky comments about babysitting and she never offered to help
