@julianthorne.us: Dan Levy is speaking out after Shane Gillis sparked backlash with jokes about women's gym clothes during his return to Saturday Night Live. Gillis hosted the NBC comedy show on October 10 and joked that women now “dress like Wh\*res” at the gym. He then made comments about their short workout shorts, leaving many viewers questioning whether the routine had crossed a line. But Levy, the Schitt's Creek star and co-creator, was not laughing. In a video posted to Instagram, Levy called the remarks misogynistic and argued that insulting women over their clothing contributes to a culture where they are treated as objects rather than people. He also called on more men to speak up, insisting that respect for women should not be treated as an issue only women need to address. Levy's message quickly received support from several celebrities, including Viola Davis, Lily James, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyssa Milano, and Elizabeth Banks. Former SNL cast member Ego Nwodim also responded sarcastically, sharing a gym photo with a caption that referenced Gillis's controversial joke. However, not everyone agreed with the criticism. Former SNL performer Victoria Jackson defended Gillis's comments, showing just how divided opinions remain over the limits of comedy. Gillis has faced controversy before. In 2019, NBC dismissed him from the SNL cast before his debut after old podcast clips containing racist and homophobic remarks resurfaced. The latest dispute raises a familiar question: when does edgy comedy stop being funny and start causing harm? \#ShaneGillis #DanLevy #SaturdayNightLive #CelebrityNews #hollywoodnews
