@yapwithhala: I said my meanest moments in a fight can happen over text. On YAP, I sat down with guest Adam Lane Smith (@attachmentbro) to talk about the difference between arguing through messages and seeing another person’s reaction in real time. Adam describes what text can leave out: watching someone become quiet, shut down or look hurt while you are speaking. His contrast is with sending paragraph after paragraph without that immediate feedback or interruption. I added my own experience: sometimes typing feels faster than talking, and afterward I can look at what I wrote and wonder why I was so mean. That is my admission in this conversation, not a claim that every text disagreement turns out the same way. This clip names a problem rather than offering a complete conflict-repair method. The point Adam makes is about the missing response from the person on the other side—not simply whether the message says everything you wanted to say. A paragraph can carry your words. It may not show you how they are landing. Have you ever read back a message and been surprised by how harsh it sounded? Follow @yapwithhala for more clips like this!
