Now I understand it was never about me or my fault. My parents had their own adult demons I didn’t understand.

This trend is crazy because I grew up in like a pretty normal home and didn’t even think I had classmates that had to go home to stuff like that makes me sad fr

Relearned it in my own addiction. Never understood my daddy more than when I was laid out on the rehab floor in cold sweats praying for a way out

Serious genuine question for kids of addicts, as a kid 4.5.6 yrs old how did you know your parents were using? What it was or what it meant? Especially if they didn’t use around you ?

Has nothing to do with how much people love an addict is what I’ve learned. It’s the struggles they are fighting with internally.

CPS took me in the middle of the night. All my toys were infested so I couldn’t bring anything. Cried on a farm for couple years till 1 day my grandma was in the driveway. That was a moment I’ll never forget

I swore I wouldn't be my mother, lost my father, ended up like both of them and missed half my eldest daughter's life but now I'm almost 11 years sober and been back in her life for awhile 😭🩷

You can love them with your whole existence and it’s never enough to kill their demons. Unfortunately it’s something they have to want and accepting that has been the hardest realization ever for me , even as an adult

I was this little. My momma next to me. This little girl was taken across the big city walking with just a jacket on. Shivering and so cold. But dad has a mission. He’s on the way to the trap house. Luckily, this little girl spent a lot of time at 3 memorizing phone numbers because we lived in section 8 apartments. Mom came and rescued her and made sure dad only had visitation at grandmas. Dad spiraled into addiction. He assaulted that little girl. She lost that whole side of her family, as they sided with him. No longer a daddy’s girl
