@the_are_music: Joe Jackson – Stepping Out 1982🎹 Joe Jackson had some really great records, but this will always be my favorite. It represents a time in music that is very special for me. My 11-year-old brain was absorbing music like a sponge and trying to develop a particular taste in music, “my” music and what could be a lane that I could fit into. Then came Joe Jackson, “Stepping Out” and completely shook that notion up. It was different from anything else I had heard at the time and I loved it. It allowed me to understand that I could like many things and didn’t have to stay within a certain genre to define who I was. “Stepping Out” sounded sophisticated, it was piano driven, and still had an edge to it that made it so cool. I now would have The Cure, Michael Jackson, and Joe Jackson in Walkman rotation and so began the groundwork.
