@swishbreaks: They asked their parents to stop by the card aisle. They left with boxes bought by an NHL player—and a stuffed animal named after him. ❤️🏒 Nine-year-old Luke and seven-year-old Jake Stephens were shopping with their family when they spotted Jake Walman browsing cards. Walman started chatting and asked if they were Oilers fans. Both said yes. Their favorite players? Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Then he asked if they’d heard of Jake Walman. One boy told him his dad loved Walman and had been thrilled when Edmonton traded for him. 😂 For about ten minutes, they talked hockey, Pokémon and Minecraft. Then, with their parents’ permission, Walman offered to buy the boys some cards. They each picked a pack. Walman insisted they each get a whole box. He made sure their five-year-old sister, Emma, was included too, picking out a Minecraft stuffed animal for her. And the surprises kept coming: one of the boys pulled a Connor McDavid card from the cards Walman bought. Their family photo spread online, and the kids became little celebrities at school. But the detail their dad shared afterward might be the sweetest: all three wanted Walman jerseys, and Emma named her new stuffed animal after him. Walman could have quietly finished his shopping. Instead, he gave three kids a reason to love their team even more. What’s the best interaction you’ve ever had with an athlete? 👇 C/NHL
