Why was I perfectly okay eating pigs, cows, chickens, and fish for almost 40 years? How did I somehow convince myself that those animals didn’t feel the same fear… the same love… the same desire to be with their families? Somewhere along the way, I was taught that compassion had a stopping point. I was taught that these particular animals were simply here for my pleasure. That they were somehow different. But they aren’t. Once I finally allowed myself to see it… I couldn’t unsee it. Did you know mother cows mourn for their babies? They’re mammals, just like we are. They cry, they search, they grieve, and they’ll even injure themselves trying to get back to their calves. They gather together and mourn. Did you know pigs are incredibly intelligent? They form deep friendships, hold each other’s tails while they sleep, and have been shown to solve complex problems and even learn simple video games. Did you know chickens purr when they’re happy, relaxed, and content? And I’ve already shared my story about the pigeon. So what do you think a chicken feels? We’ve been taught these animals don’t suffer. We’ve been taught they’re here for us. That somehow they’re willingly sacrificing their lives. But they’re not. They’re fighting for their lives until their very last breath. That’s why, for me personally, saying a prayer thanking them for giving their life never felt right once I understood the truth. They didn’t freely choose to die. Their lives were taken. It’s time we wake up. It’s time we question the things we’ve been taught are normal. If you’ve never watched Dominion, watch it. Not because I want to shame you. Not because I want to argue with you. But because I want you to simply watch with an open heart and ask yourself… How does this make me feel? When we’re little, we already know. We don’t look at a cow standing in a field and think about biting into it raw. A lion does that. But we get to choose differently. And if you’re sitting there thinking, “I wouldn’t even know where to begin,” I completely understand. I didn’t know where to start either. That’s exactly why I created my free Plant-Based Made Easy Guide. #plantbased #vegan
