@intermiamidaily: 🚨🇦🇷 MESSI TO PRESENT AN AWARD HE’S NOMINATED TO WIN? CONFLICTING REPORTS EMERGE! Lionel Messi is once again making headlines ahead of football’s most prestigious individual awards ceremony, but this time, the story isn’t simply about adding another trophy to his collection. Reports circulating Tuesday suggested that the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner had been invited to attend the 2026 ceremony in London on October 26, potentially taking on the extraordinary responsibility of presenting the award to this year’s winner. The unusual twist? Messi himself is among the 30 nominees competing for the very same trophy. However, journalist Fabrizio Romano has reportedly disputed those claims, stating that Messi has not been invited to present the award, while his attendance at the ceremony remains unconfirmed. At 39 years old, the Inter Miami captain remains among football’s elite, earning another Ballon d’Or nomination following a historic chapter that saw him lead the Herons to their first MLS Cup championship in 2025. This year’s ceremony carries additional significance as the Ballon d’Or celebrates its 70th anniversary, with London hosting the prestigious event in recognition of the award’s inaugural winner, Sir Stanley Matthews. From his first triumph in 2009 to his record-breaking eighth in 2023, Messi has helped define an entire generation of football. And while the reports surrounding his involvement remain disputed, the possibility offers a symbolic moment: the man who set the standard potentially handing the honor to someone hoping to reach it. Whether Messi ultimately takes the stage or not, his legacy remains forever woven into the history of the award. Eight Ballon d’Or trophies. Seventeen nominations. One extraordinary career. 🐐🏆 💬 Should Messi be the one to present the Ballon d’Or to the next generation, even while competing for his ninth? #LionelMessi #InterMiami #BallonDor2026 #Messi #InterMiamiDaily
