You have to take care of yourself before you can help others. Trying to make everyone else happy puts a huge burden on yourself. Don’t tell anyone your plans, they can learn about it after it’s done. And you are 100% right about peoples opinions. Even if you were making a six figure salary someone will have something to say about it. I was just talking to a friend of mine about this same thing, and how I was getting hate for posting here on tt. And he told me people are going to talk, but let them at least my posts are getting views. Never thought of it that way
