@offenceregister: James McKenna Carmarthen Park Attacker 👇 FULL CASE DETAILS BELOW 👇 A 58-year-old Carmarthen man who ambushed and tried to murder his former partner in a public park has been sentenced to 24 years in prison. Swansea Crown Court heard that on the afternoon of 29 January, James McKenna, of Carmarthen, confronted his ex-partner in Carmarthen Park. In a brutal broad-daylight attack, McKenna repeatedly stabbed the woman, leaving her with severe wounds and lacerations to her chest, arm, and hand. McKenna fled the scene, prompting Dyfed-Powys Police to launch a major manhunt. Searching nearby allotments, officers discovered a rucksack containing the blood-stained knife, but McKenna remained on the run. Detectives tracked his movements into Ceredigion and arrested him in Aberystwyth four days later on 2 February. McKenna admitted wounding with intent and possessing a blade, but denied attempting to murder his ex-partner. Following a week-long trial, a jury rejected his claims and convicted him of attempted murder. On 9 October 2026, the judge sentenced McKenna to 24 years' imprisonment alongside an indefinite restraining order.
