The games are by no means actually functional. Do anything outside of roaming the open and it breaks extremely easily. Just eye candy. But even if it worked perfectly, it’s still harming the original art of the game. Elden ring for example is designed as an action rpg. Stomping on bosses heads as Mario or blasting them with a sniper rifle and driving away in a car isn’t ever going to be more fun than actually interacting with the game’s mechanics as you should. Mods should add to a game, but this is deleting important aspects of a game to make room for slop

I want to preface this by saying I am staunchly anti-ai in essentially every facet. However, it's inaccurate to label all of these AI mashups as the overlay method, because some of them are the result of AI being used to fully decompile games and then just straight rip the source code to put in another game, which is more impressive and technically feasible to do without AI, but decompiling games is an extremely long and tedious project which is why it was a rare occurrence before the advent of AI. But yeah, it's not as impressive as AI bros make it out to be, but it's also more nuanced than just being an overlay

keep in mind we’ve had stuff like this BEFORE ai, not just mods but taking one character and putting their engine and their physics and their moveset into games. Minecraft had a Mario 64 mod that would run Mario 64 and place Mario into Minecraft WITHOUT AI and it looks and plays 1 billion times better than this ai slop

This is exactly how AI wins. Sure people are vehemently against in the beginning, but soon they start to except in their day to day life slowly. Something like this happens, or change your pc into a ps5. Now people are all in. People really don't have any values they stand for.

Blaming ram prices on these video games mash-ups is like blaming regular consumers for industrial pollution. These mash-ups aren't the reason or the same as the frontrier models they are training and using up all the ram for. It's not the same thing.
