Funny story here, I once called my dad from an all night party with older kids when I was 14, I called and told him not to expect me back, he told me to get my ass home so I hung up with the assumption that he didn’t know where I was and that I would just deal with the fallout later, he phoned round found out where the party was turned up and dragged me out, embarrassing me in front of everyone. I always asked politely after that and if the answer was no I accepted it.
